Corbin started 2017 strong, lasting a half-hour in the Royal Rumble and eliminating Braun Strowman. He won the Money in the Bank briefcase during the summer, which seemed to chart his path forward and upward.

And that’s when things made a sharp U-turn.

First, Corbin unsuccessfully cashed in his briefcase when John Cena distracted him. Then he lost cleanly to Cena at SummerSlam. He won the United States Championship in October, only to lose the title at Clash of Champions in December to Dolph Ziggler, who relinquished the title. Along the way, he lost matches to Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode.
