12 WWE Royal Rumble Stats You Need To Know
Who's entered #1 the most? Who's eliminated the most people? Who won the quickest?
The Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated events on a
wrestling fan’s calendar each year. When done well, it builds drama and
suspense, delivers surprises, creates new stars and star-making moments, and
establishes potential new angles going forward.
Throughout its 30-year history, the Royal Rumble has produced some signature moments that have been etched into wrestling history. It also has served to kick off WrestleMania season, the sports equivalent of the playoffs. And with a long history in WWF/E and being an event that easily lends itself to record-keeping, there are plenty of statistics, numbers and records that can be gathered about the Rumble – and then spit back out at this time of year, which WWE typically does.
Some of these statistics are pretty well-known facts: Who has the record for eliminations in a Rumble? Who has lasted the longest in a Rumble match? Who has won the most Royal Rumbles?
But there are plenty of stats and facts that are a little harder to come by, such as: Who has entered a Rumble #1 the most? Who has won a Rumble in the shortest amount of time? How successful have Rumble winners been at WrestleMania?
Let’s take a look at some of the Royal Rumble statistics that you really should know before the big match.
12. Most Rumbles
Each year, 30 superstars compete in the Royal Rumble (unless
it’s 2011), meaning that a large portion of the roster has a chance to enter
the match. It also means that plenty of wrestlers have numerous Rumble appearances
under their belts. Longevity with WWE translates into more opportunities to
enter the Rumble each year, but it’s not even close who has competed in the
most Rumbles.
With 19 appearances, Kane (formerly Isaac Yankem and Fake Diesel) has by far entered more Rumbles than anyone. However, he didn’t appear in last year’s Rumble, and he is in the Universal Championship triple threat this year. Still, the next nearest wrestlers are Shawn Michaels at 12 Rumbles, which isn’t going to increase since he’s been retired for nearly eight years, and Big Show, also at 12.
Undertaker and Goldust have 11 appearances each, and The Miz and Chris Jericho each have competed in 10 Rumbles, but it’s unlikely they’ll catch up to Kane.
