In terms of recent history, CM Punk's 434 day title reign is the ghost that will haunt Vince McMahon for quite a while. In fact, there's a very good chance that Vince will go to the grave with that being the record for the modern era. He put well over a year into Punk as Champion, only for the straight edge star to up and leave within a year of the reign ending. Things then got nasty, with McMahon firing Punk on his wedding day, something he has since apologised for. Apparently it was just a "coincidence." The entire messy situation and the fact the modern day record books will feature Punk so prominently, it is something that will continue to bug McMahon for years to come.
