9. Wardlow Becomes The Face Of The Revolution

Big dumb fun.

That's what last night's Face of the Revolution Ladder Match was. Six men of differing sizes and wrestling philosophies put their bodies through the wringer in an extremely entertaining dash for the gold ring, with each wrestler adequately highlighted and a pleasing lack of table-setting spots, even for the more elaborate stunts.

Inventive moments like Ricky Starks leaping through a ladder's top section to land a spear and Orange Cassidy being inadvertently hoisted towards the ring while standing on a ladder characterised this match. As things got serious towards the end, Wardlow popped out of nowhere, sending Keith Lee and Powerhouse Hobbs plummeting off the stage and to the floor, eventually scoring a well-earned victory on what felt like a major star-making night for him (but more on that later).

Here's hoping for positive news on Orange Cassidy and Starks, both of whom took nasty-looking bumps in the match's third act. Regardless, this was as advertised. A crazy spotfest, that this rarely felt contrived put it on a level above the average American ladder match these days.
