13 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Feb 12)
Omega/Page vs. SCU, Rose vs. Riho, and a top-three episode of Dynamite.
Last night's AEW Dynamite was, at minimum, one of the three best weekly shows this young company has produced since its inception.
Almost everything got over on this episode. The Texan crowd were wired, engaged, and popping all night long, from the Kenny Omega and Hangman Page vs. SoCal Uncensored opener all the way through to the big debut at the end. Everything important connected - an objective measurement of success from a TV show that is firing on all cylinders at the moment.
Dynamite was largely built around its two title fights, with the aforementioned tag team tilt a repeat of the epic encounter those two teams forged on the Jericho Cruise. Later, Nyla Rose challenged for Riho's Women's World Championship, looking to overturn the loss she suffered to the Japanese star on the very first episode of Dynamite back in October 2019.
Elsewhere, we got MJF vs. Jungle Boy, Dustin Rhodes vs. Sammy Guevara, and more, including a host of new matches for upcoming Dynamites and the Revolution pay-per-view, which is filling up nicely ahead of 29 February.
This week's Downs are largely negligible. They were significant enough to be brought up but nowhere near disruptive enough to derail what was an excellent, excellent show. Let's run through them...
