14 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown Superstar Shake-Up
7. Let Bayley's Rebuild Commence
Completing the new-look SmackDown's women's division is Bayley, who was one of a number of new faces to emerge during the catch-all in-ringer with Becky Lynch.
That the Montreal crowd decided to boo 'The Hugger' speaks volumes of the hatchet job WWE have done on her character over the past few years. Once one of their most valuable babyface commodities, Bayley's main roster run has seen her marginalised and undermined. Becoming one of the first Women's Tag Team Champions brought hopes of a revival, but her and Sasha Banks' reign ended after a single month. It was another knockback for a hyper-talented star, and few performers needed a fresh start more than Bayley.
Let's hope SmackDown's writing team do a better job than Raw's, who didn't have a clue what they were doing with Bayley at times. She should be someone they can build up to the same level as a Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair, whom she came up with in the first place, though creative have much work to do if they plan on repairing Raw's damage.
