This disturbing story has been told on several different shoots by a variety of wrestlers, and the Von Erich brother and location seem to change along with some of the details with each re-telling, but the gist of it is this: Kevin (or Kerry) Von Erich was backstage at the Sportatorium (or in the alley behind it), when he spotted a stray cat wandering around. In a drug-induced stupor, Von Erich grabbed the cat and slammed it against a wall, killing it. Other versions have Von Erich tossing a sawblade at the cat and killing it, and in the most ridiculous variant, has the wrestler applying their finisher, The Iron Claw to the cat until it died. Even though this story sounds absurd, the fact that it's been told so many times like an adult game of telephone makes us wonder if there isn't at least a small bit of truth to it. But we don't remember The Von Erichs for animal cruelty, so hopefully it's just a stupid rumour.
