I understand that the decision to have Ryback defeat Kalisto leads to a rematch for the US Championship at Payback, but it also makes the champ look weak yet again.

For all they've changed their tune in recent years, WWE still have a problem with portraying smaller champions as strong. Kalisto was given the full Rey Mysterio treatment here, losing as clean as a whistle to a far bigger competitor.
