AKA: The Model

In the late 1990s, former AWA Champion and Strike Force member got a huge heel makeover when he became The Model. If there was any doubt that Rick Martel was indeed a model, he had plenty of props to convince you.

He was often seen in a smart blazer that matched well with his bright pink trunks, but he also carried a comically large perfume atomizer. For my money, though, nothing can hold a candle to Martels signature lapel button, which read, in large block print, YES I AM A MODEL.

Martel is the granddaddy of all the "model" characters WWE has ever done, and it's hard to ague that he wasn't the most successful. He was involved in several high-profile feuds, most notably one in which his perfume, Arrogance, temporarily blinded Jake Roberts. He also had a rare heel vs. heel match (with a "not in the face" stipulation) against fellow narcissist Shawn Michaels over the affections of Sensational Sherri.
