Stone Cold reveals that Hunter told him that had he won the 1996 King of the Ring as planned, he can objectively say he wasn't ready at the time. If the Curtain Call that caused him to be punished hadn't happened and Vince had gone with him over Austin, he wasn't prepared. He tells Austin he was ready, mature as talent and knew who he was and where he wanted to go, but that he himself wasn't. He admits he would have failed if he'd been given the reigns and doesn't think he would have succeeded.
