Austin acknowledges that Heyman and McMahon have had their ups and downs and quite the tumultuous relationship over the years and asks what it's like currently. Paul replies that he thinks it's probably stronger than it's ever been because they don't interact on a daily basis and he's not constantly annoying Vince trying to tell him how to save the industry. He says that when he was hired in 2001 he was hired to give the contrarian opinion and always felt that was his job no matter what Vince said, and fought and tried to push his ideas through, and thinks Vince got tired of smacking him down.
