Hard not to think back to those glory years of Saturday morning wrestling and not remember Beefcake trimming the locks of some poor unconscious jobber. Credit must be given to Ed Leslie, who initially viewed the "Barber" role as some sort of rib, but would turn it into an unforgettable character that is still recalled fondly today. While Beefcake is sometimes maligned as Hogan's toady, he was a more-than-capable worker. Matches with Greg Valentine, Rick Rude, and Randy Savage in 1988-89 were top notch, particularly against Savage on the July 1989 Saturday Night's Main Event. Had Beefcake indeed won the Intercontinental title from Mr. Perfect at SummerSlam 1990, as was planned, he'd have been a deserving champion, one worthy of eventual enshrinement. He's worthy of it anyhow, belt or not.
