Maven was fresh off of Tough Enough, a revolutionary reality show that gave one lucky male and female the opportunity of a lifetime to be WWE Superstars, so it made sense that the company would want to showcase him as the winner of the competition show. The problem is that he was incredibly green and did not deserve the chance to work a match at WrestleMania when so many talented Superstars were left off of the card. Spike Dudley, Crash Holly, Al Snow, The Hurricane and The Godfather were just a few of the veteran competitors who were forced into brief backstage segments surrounding the Hardcore Championship that Maven CARRIED INTO THE SHOW. That's right; if it was not insulting enough that Maven made the card ahead of them, the weeks-long "veteran" of the industry even had a title to his credit. He would lose the title when the aforementioned Dudley hit the ring and took advantage of the 24/7 rule, but he would end the night by pinning Christian and regaining it. It was the sole WrestleMania appearance for Maven, who never really made the most of his golden opportunity despite hard work on his end.
