Losing the mask was a travesty. It did reinvigorate Kane to an extent and arguably his longevity has benefited from the switch. But the way in WWE removed the mask was almost insulting to the big red machine. It was just some match on Raw. It should have been a long pay per view build up, with the tease of Kane's mask on the line against Triple H's title. The significance would have been so much more with a bigger promotional build and it would've helped shift some increased pay per view buys. Instead Vince McMahon just gave this monumental moment away for free on Raw. Yes, it was Madison Square Garden, but that wasn't enough of a reason to do it. The mask was lost to Triple H and it meant barely anything.
