18 Things We Learned From Enzo & Big Cass On The Steve Austin Show

6. How Enzo Scored His WWE Tryout

The previously mentioned Joe DeFranco, who Enzo had been training with, has also worked extensively with Triple H and was largely responsible for securing Enzo's tryout with the company.

Joe comes to Enzo one day and asks "Have you ever heard of this guy named Paul Levesque? He left a message on my phone and wants me to train him". Amore went crazy with excitement and had to explain who he was and DeFranco took him on as a client.

For a year Enzo began recording as much footage of himself training at DeFranco's gym as he possibly could, and Joe realised that he was up to something. Finally he thought he had a sufficient amount of footage put together, passed it to Joe and said all he was asking was that he show it to Triple H,

A week later Hunter called him on his cell phone and told him he was being given a tryout at FCW. Enzo was worried because he'd never trained for the business and thought he needed to find a school, but Triple H's advice was "don't go to a wrestling school, don't do anything until you get there and don't f*ck this up".

He credits Norman Smiley for being helpful and working with him during his tryout. He knew he couldn't wrestle but after the match he was given the opportunity to cut a promo. Dusty Rhodes pulled him aside and told him he had potential and that he'd put in a word for him.
