The biggest shock of the night came in the women's Royal Rumble match, where Becky Lynch, who had earlier lost her SmackDown Women's Championship match against Asuka via submission, took the place of injured #28 entrant Lana and won by last eliminating Charlotte Flair.

Seth Rollins emerged victorious from the men's Royal Rumble match despite being put through an announce table by a frustrated Bobby Lashley whom he had just eliminated. Rollins was joined in the final four by Braun Strowman, Andrade, & Dolph Ziggler, and after Strowman took care of the other two, the Architect hit a Curb Stomp on the Monster Among Men on the apron to eliminate him and win the Rumble.

Shinsuke Nakamura left the pay-per-view as United States champion following a win over Rusev on the pre-show after the Bulgarian Brute accidentally knocked his wife Lana off the ring apron and subsequently received a Kinshasa to the back of the head which incapacitated him for a three count.

Finally, The Miz & Shane McMahon are the new SmackDown Tag Team champions after defeating The Bar in a back-and-forth thriller. The finish saw McMahon land a Shooting Star Press on Cesaro, and the pinfall sparked jubilant scenes from the duo, the crowd, and Miz's beaming father who proceeded to celebrate with the new champs.
