2 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage: New Year's Smash (Dec 29 - Results & Review)
Surprisingly lacklustre matches fail to excite before AEW Worlds End hits PPV.
Expecting Rampage to be a dazzling send off for AEW TV before Worlds End hits pay-per-view on Saturday was probably unrealistic. The 'C' show is where it is heading into the new year, and Tony Khan still has a decision to make on it. In short, what does the boss man want Rampage to be in 2024?
One thing it definitely shouldn't become is a vehicle for Ring Of Honor or other lesser belts like the FTW Title. Both went under the microscope on this week's show, but it's clear to see that All Elite fans don't really give much of a toss about that sort of thing. They want to see more core AEW action when they're tuning into/attending AEW programming.
Imagine that.
There were a few positives to take away from the 'go home' show (if it can even be called that) though. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara added much-needed context to their recent reunion from Dynamite, and Stokely Hathaway continued meddling in Kris Statlander's affairs whilst trying to tie her down as his latest client.
