20 Absolute Best Wrestlers In The World Right Now

12. Jon Moxley

Few recent wrestling transformations were as exciting to watch as Jonathan David Good's from Dean Ambrose to Jon Moxley, with the former 'Lunatic Fringe' a performer reborn the moment he was free of WWE's Sports Entertainment Universe.

Shedding his wacky rodeo clown skin, Moxley emerged a more polished version of his old indie self, refined by the eight years he spent on the world's biggest wrestling stage.

He was a shot in the arms of AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling. For the former, his Double Or Nothing arrival made for one of the year's biggest moments, his Full Gear showdown with Kenny Omega one of its most controversial matches, and he continues to prosper as a rogue chaos element in his feud with Chris Jericho.

In NJPW, Moxley continues to prove his mettle as an elite-level pro-wrestler in the game's most sport-oriented environment. 'The Purveyor of Violence' can go. His G1 Climax run proved that and his through-the-crowd entrances conjure the spirit of the late, great Bruiser Brody, without the threat of someone dying via massive metal chain. Not that Moxley doesn't feel dangerous, though: he's one of the few capable of doing so at mainstream level.
