20 Best WWE Matches Of The Decade (So Far)

19. Randy Orton Vs. Christian - SummerSlam 2011

Ah, Christian, the seemingly forgotten man. Captain Charisma returned to WWE in 2009 (after a stint in TNA) and proceeded to have a string of great matches. Not that it really improved his standing in the company, of course. Vince McMahon had always viewed Christian as a midcarder. The best he could hope for was an ECW Title reign. When his former tag team partner and real-life best friend Edge was forced to retire in April 2011, the WWE creative team sensed an opportunity and decided to push Christian in order to capatalise on the very real drama and emotion of the situation. He won the World Heavyweight Title from Alberto Del Rio at Extreme Rules and then entered a fruitful summer programme with Randy Orton. Their conflict boasted several really good matches, the best of which was their no-holds-barred affair at SummerSlam. After exchanging all manner of brutal moves, Orton finally scored the win after almost twenty five minutes of action by catching Christian in mid-air with a stunning RKO onto the steel steps.
