Having been one of Ring of Honors founding fathers when the company was getting off the ground in 2002, it took Bryan Danielson until 2005s Glory by Honor IV to finally become the ROH Champion. In a fantastic counter-driven technical showcase that left viewers out of breath, Danielson defeated James Gibson (some of you may know him better as Jamie Noble) for the gold, embarking on a whopping 462-day run with the belt. The American Dragon would soon get the reputation of a fighting champion, defending his belt against any and all challengers, often even putting the gold on the line against grapplers from other companies. As expected, there were plenty of classic bouts throughout Danielsons reign as ROH Champion in fact, many still consider Dragons title run to be the greatest in ROH history to date - but it was his match with Gibson that saw him win his first major World Championship and stands out as one of his greatest achievements.
