The most uncalled-for and mean-spirited instance of humiliation in WWE history came in late 2009, early 2010 when Mickie James was routinely the butt of jokes about what management perceived to be a weight problem. Not the prototypical model type that WWE routinely hired for its Divas division, Mickie was a real woman with areal physique. More importantly, she was a hell of a wrestler and one of the most decorated female performers in company history. Yet, the fact that she was not a toothpick that wore a size zero dress made management uncomfortable. They opted to handle things the only way they knew how: in a storyline that would play out in front of an international viewing audience. LayCool, the Mean Girls-esque team of Layla and Michelle McCool, poked fun at Mickie's weight on a weekly basis. They nicknamed her "Piggy James" and greeted her with pig calls. McCool even went as far as to sing "Old McDonald." By the time they smashed Mickie in the face with a cake in the shape of a pig and poured a bowl of punch of her head, leaving her in tears, fans were in an uproar. The angle was not funny, nor was it entertaining. It was mean, it was hurtful and no one involved looked any better for it. It was an awful bit of booking that exposed Mickie to unfair criticism.
