11. The ECW Arena Didn't Even Have Working Toilets
And let's hope those regulars bought some nappies at the dollar store just down the road, because when nature called at the ECW Arena, they'd have to hold it in. There were restroom facilities in the building, but they weren't for the faint-hearted, and many of the urinals and toilets didn't actually work, leading many fans to simply give that toilet stop a miss altogether. Worse yet, the same extended to the men and women performing on the show, because there weren't really any working toilets for them either. Many wrestlers, including Mick Foley, Chris Jericho and Tazz have commented on the lack of suitable showering facilities on offer too, making the ECW Arena as raw and dirty as it gets. Several fan accounts posted online seem to suggest that people simply nipped outside for a quick whizz, hurrying all the way so that they didn't miss any of the action. Well-known British wrestling journalist, John Lister, recounts his experiences in the ECW Arena during his book, 'Slamthology', which discusses in-depth his various trips to the US for ECW and WWF shows during the 90's.
