10. Almost Everyone Apart From Jake Told DDP He Was Too Old To Start Wrestling
Diamond Dallas Page was 35 years old when he decided to have a real stab at earning a living as a full-time pro wrestler. His plans were the talk of the locker room back in 1991, and nobody aside from a small nucleus believed for one second that Page could make anything of himself.
Confused and in need of some advice, DDP asked Jake for his thoughts. He'd already been shown some things at the WCW Power Plant by Dusty Rhodes and others, but Page wanted to learn wrestling psychology, and he knew that was Roberts' forte. Unlike almost everybody else, Jake didn't tell Page he was too old.
Ric Flair did.
Apparently, Flair told Page that 35 was no age to start wrestling. Though there's a chance Ric was only trying to protect DDP from getting hurt or despondent if he didn't make the grade, Jake didn't think it was right to tell him not to try. He could see how determined DDP was to improve.
