Stephanie McMahon once tried to cover up a mistake on-air by saying, Im sorry, I pulled an Adamle. That is an accurate reflection of just how bad Adamle was as an announcer, on-screen authority figure, and commentator. During his debut, he mistakenly pronounced Jeff Hardy as Jeff Harvey. From there, things went downhill fast. He didnt understand the concept of a handicap match, mispronounced other wrestlers names on a regular basis, and screwed up even the simplest of promos and one-liners. Adamles time in WWE was really bad, plain and simple. Its one thing to make a few mistakes when pronouncing wrestlers names when you first enter a company. Its a different matter altogether when every single one of the other commentators, including both Tazz and Michael Cole, have to cover up for your mistakes and lack of understanding of the wrestling profession. WWE couldve hired someone else to do this job, or given more screen time to the likes of Todd Grisham or Matt Stryker; at least those two knew what they were talking about. Instead, they went with Adamle, whom they hired because of his connection to the TV show American Gladiators. They thought that would bring some more cross-cultural appeal to the show, but they were wrong; soincrediblywrong.
