Punk's actual WWE debut was all the way back on April 17, 2005, when he teamed up with Chad Russell Simpson to fight Maven and Simon Dean on an episode of Sunday Night Heat. The match lasts all of about two minutes and doesn't really give Punk much of an opportunity to shine considering that this was a tryout match, but hey, at least he manages to tag to Simpson before the match ends, allowing his partner to eat the loss instead of himself. Reports have persisted for years that Triple H and Shawn Michaels "buried" Punk and dismissed him after this tryout, though both of them have refuted it ever since.
