In an era where seemingly every main event included one lengthy brawl around ringside and into the crowd, would Attitude Era fans appreciate a straightforward scientific battle? The likes of Benoit and Angle had spent the previous year or so playing the WWE game, fusing their mat mastery with the company's simplified main event style. As a taste of something different, the two were given time in Houston to show that they could do more.
