That being said, a twist WWE most definitely did not plan was for the SmackDown Women's Championship showdown between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair to be on the ropes. Yet, a string of live event no-shows seems to be spelling danger for said WrestleMania rematch.
Away from The Biggest Party of the Summer, NXT welcomed their own unexpected surprise this week in the form of Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano announcing the incoming arrival of their very own Baby Wrestling to The Way. Congratulations to the parents-to-be! The black and gold brand also added yet another epic to Sunday night's grand TakeOver 36 card, with short-term-contract Cole set to throw down in a 2-out-of-3-falls match against Krazy Kyle on the night.
Roman Reigns brought up Nikki Bella's preference for anything but missionary on SmackDown, to which John Cena replied by name-dropping some All Elite (or soon to be, at least?) bombs on The Tribal Chief, even threatening to blow a familiar kiss as he ran out of Vegas with the Universal gold.
Goldberg speared the WWE Champion, King Nakamura reigns once again, RK-Bro is back to being a thing, but will the WWE landscape be forever altered in the wake of a truly colossal summer spectacular? Away from a certain Punk threatening to steal the spotlight on Friday night, this weekend could mark the beginning of an exciting new era for a company in need of a shake-up.
