3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (Results & Review - 23 May)

1. Penta And Page Do Battle

Penta’s reign as Intercontinental Champion has mostly been a good title run, with the luchador remaining popular with fans and continuing to win.

The current situation with Ethan Page, Je’Von Evans and Rusev hovering around the scene has produced some pretty entertaining moments, but it also has dragged at times. Rather than book a four-way match for Saturday Night’s Main Event, Page drew the assignment, and the two put on a fun back-and-forth match that had fans invested throughout.

Page got the upper hand after backdropping Penta onto the announce desk and posting him, then kept the pressure on in the ring until El Zero Miedo made the comeback. They traded chops and thrust kicks before a double-down reset things. Page landed the Confidence Breaker for two. The IC champ hit the Penta Driver for two. All Ego drilled an avalanche powerslam for two.

Finally, Page lost his patience and tried to use an exposed turnbuckle to his advantage, but it ultimately backfired, with Ethan hitting the steel and getting dropped by a Mexican Destroyer.

The crowd reaction provided the proof that Penta is over with fans when he’s in the ring defending his title, and Page turned out to be a suitable dance partner. Even in defeat, Ethan looked legit, a believable challenger who could hold that title in the near future.
