3 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Jan 10)
1. So Much For The Corbin Push
The main event of Smackdown was John Cena's first TV match since No Mercy, and it saw the star in action against Baron Corbin. Last week, Corbin interrupted Cena and Styles's contract signing for the Royal Rumble, getting in the 15-time champion's face, and this bout was the result.
The match was decent, although a large portion of the beginning was cut out due to a commercial. When the show came back, the men were trading big moves, with Corbin hitting the Deep Six (which, oddly enough, AJ Styles argued wasn't the Deep Six on commentary), and Cena getting a Tornado DDT.
The end of the match, though, was like a million other matches - Cena simply hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle, then the Attitude Adjustment for the pin. After weeks of hyping up how tough Corbin is, it was a little surprising to see him beaten so handily - not that I'm complaining, mind you. I'd much rather see someone more talented getting his push.
