One of the more peculiar eliminations in Rumble history sees Mexican wrestling legend Mil Mascaras eliminate a fellow masked wrestler, Pierroth, then climb the top turnbuckle and dive at him, effectively eliminating himself also. Mascaras then ran back into the ring to continue competing, only for two referees to explain to him that he just threw himself out. Though the kayfabe reason for the self-elimination is clearly that Mascaras didn't understand the Rumble's rules, it's widely believed that Mascaras insisted on such an elimination because of his infamous ego - he didn't want anyone on the WWE roster to eliminate him.
