29. Triple H Wins The Royal Rumble Match And WWE Championship

Triple H celebrates with Vince and Stephanie McMahon, having last eliminated Dean Ambrose to win the Royal Rumble match (and WWE Championship).

In a move which would have been heavily criticised under normal circumstances, ageing part-timer Triple H made his return at no. 30 of the 2016 Royal Rumble, dumping out arch-rival Roman Reigns en route to his second victory in the match - the first coming some fourteen years prior.

The sight of The Game winning both the match and WWE Championship would usually surely have been met with a huge backlash most years, but was actually met with a positive response - proving once again the massive unpopularity of previous champ Roman Reigns.
