Given the participants, the storyline, and the location, it was hard to imagine a way WWE could mess up the Kabuki Warriors vs Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky tag match.
The formula was simple enough: let Iyo take most of the first half, hot tag Rhea, and let the place explode, then do all the fun double-team action to close out the match, leading to Kairi Sane taking the pin (surprisingly, it was Iyo getting the pin).
Everything worked to plan, with Sky starting out strong, including a suicide dive on Asuka, but the Kabuki Warriors took over, with Asuka standing on Iyo’s neck and head at one point to exhibit dominance. Sky would fire up against the Empress, tagging Rhea to run wild on the heels.
Things broke down from there, but it came back together for Kairi to save Asuka from an avalanche Riptide, only to eat a Riptide herself. One Iyo moonsault later, and “Rhiyo” was victorious.
This was perfect sub-main event fare: energetic, fun, and hot for the crowd. Additionally, it left the door open plenty for more, with Iyo/Asuka and other permutations.
