6. Can They Co-Exist, Chapter 47
After doing multiple weeks of the “Can they co-exist?” angle with WWE Championship opponents Big E and Drew McIntyre, they leaned all the way in and had both men acknowledge the trope openly.
Sorry, that doesn’t make it OK. Looking at the camera and winking as you acknowledge you’re doing a stupid trope doesn’t mean all is forgiven. And then, the duo actually did manage to co-exist (as the announcers spent the entire match wondering aloud if they could get along) and topple the Dirty Dawgs in impressive fashion. So after coming to blows last week, this week they got along fine, albeit with some tension.
That’s called storytelling in reverse.
The match itself at Crown Jewel is probably going to be really good, but the build – which could have been a simple respect feud – once again was ruined by “creative” and their less-than-stellar ideas.
