4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Sept 9)

1. Joe & Finn - Superstar Tag Team

Finally, the world caught a glimpse of Samoa Joe's potential in NXT. For the past few months, Joe has been wrestling either enhancement talent or less than dexterous wrestlers like Baron Corbin. He's yet to face an opponent that's provided him, and the crowd, with a truly exciting match. That changed last night. Teaming with Finn Balor feels like a breath of fresh air for the Samoan Submission Machine and The Lucha Dragons were perfect opponents, complementing Joe and Finn's power and flair with crowd-popping speed and momentum. Seeing Joe get the hot tag and unload on the Latin duo was a heck of a sight to see. Add that to a beautiful Muscle Buster and Coup de Grace to Kalistio and The Samoan & The Demon looked unstoppable. The combination's an inspired choice and likely will set Joe up for a series of stellar matches over the coming months, not just alongside Finn, but likely against him - one has to assume this team will fall apart sooner rather than later, either through betrayal or inevitable gamesmanship. Set your watches. Joe's proper run in the company starts now.
