4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 23)
3. King Barrett's Promo Trying To Make Fans Forget Months Of Terrible Booking
King Barrett went out on the stage with his ridiculous crown and cape talking about how it's time for people to pay for mocking him. He put the entire world on notice while adding that his crowning moment is still to come.
Really Barrett? Your crowning moment was supposed to be winning King of the Ring nearly three months ago. Since that time, it seems like he's lost more matches than he's won, so he already had his crowning moment and has done nothing of significance since then.
With SummerSlam approaching in one month, he's also likely to be on the sidelines for the event since there are already eight rumoured matches without his name involved in any of them.
It's nice to see WWE giving Barrett a chance to talk about what he's going to do, but it's a situation much like the divas situation has been in the last few months. Fans are going to have to see some changes from him as a worker and as a guy that can win some matches in order to really believe in him as a star.
The promo was fine. It's the booking that has been terrible, so maybe this will lead to better things for him.
