4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (July 23)

By John Canton /

1. Kevin Owens The Quitter

It was weird seeing Kevin Owens face Rusev in a singles match just because they're both heels and it's so rare to see heel vs. heel matches like that. They were going along fine until Owens just walked up the ramp to lose by countout.

What's the point of doing the match if you're going to end it like that? It's probably because WWE doesn't want to book either man to lose, which again begs the question about why they are even doing the match in the first place.

This idea that Owens doesn't care about wins or losses is making him look bad. I get that WWE wants people to boo him rather than turn him into some cool heel that people cheer for from time to time, but this is not the right way to do it.

If WWE wants people to care about who wins and who loses matches then they need to do a better job of booking better finishes because lately they have done a poor job of doing that.
