The more things change, the more they stay the same. Raw’s third post-Draft show felt almost like a mirror image of last week’s broadcast at times. Opening with a talking segment featuring the same feud as last week, the in-ring action was mostly truncated, and the majority of wrestlers left the show in a similar position to when they’d started.

That’s not to say this week’s Raw was bad. Cesaro highlighted a couple of excellent 10+ minute matches and SummerSlam’s biggest feuds gained further momentum with several well-produced segments, but the patterns are already emerging. The dressing might be a little different, but last night’s Raw was almost identical to last week’s on a structural level, and with just one more show until SummerSlam, that’s disappointing.

Still, SummerSlam is shaping-up to be one of the most exciting shows of the year, and three more matches were added last night: Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens, The New Day vs. Gallows & Anderson, and Rusev vs. Roman Reigns. All three are welcome additions to an already stacked card, and while there are unlikely to be any further Raw additions, WWE still have another week to ramp-up the tension.
