5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (July 25)

3. Loser: Charlotte

Charlotte was one of Draft night’s biggest winners. In selecting her third overall (ahead of everyone not named “Seth Rollins” or “Dean Ambrose”), WWE immediately cemented her status as one of the company’s most important athletes. They had reaffirmed their commitment to women’s wrestling, and Charlotte was the division’s alpha female: a competitor not just defined by her dominance, but her all-round significance to the company’s future.

Things have turned around drastically since then. Charlotte and her enforcer Dana Brooke were soundly defeated by Sasha Banks and Bayley at Battleground, which, of course, led to Banks being granted a title shot last night. Raw’s top two females produced an excellent one-on-one clash featuring some great callbacks to their old NXT matches, but in the end, Charlotte tapped out, and Banks walked away with her belt.

Charlotte had the world at her feet last week, but in a matter of days, it has all come crashing down. Sasha had been gunning for her Championship for months, and while Charlotte’s diversionary tactics always suggested that Banks would be the one to end her reign, nobody expected it to happen so soon.

Shocked, dethroned, and caught off guard, Charlotte must now regroup and find a way to adjust to life as the second best women’s wrestler on Raw.
