5 Biggest Winners & Losers From WWE Raw (July 25)
1. Loser: Roman Reigns
The Roman Empire lies in ruins. At this point, Reigns’ Wellness Policy violation has had a catastrophic impact on his wrestling career, and it might just have spelled the end for his days as a WWE main eventer.
As if being pinned at Battleground wasn’t enough, Reigns missed out on his opportunity for a shot at SummerSlam redemption when Finn Balor pinned him in Raw’s main event. His initial victory in Raw’s second Fatal Four-Way qualifying match had fans rolling their eyes at the thought of another tiresome Reigns title reign, but no. Roman was swept aside, and Balor has inherited his chair at the top table.
This is the clearest sign yet that Roman Reigns is well and truly stuck in the doghouse. It has been rumoured for weeks that Vince McMahon has finally lost all faith in the Samoan, and Raw all but confirms it. WWE have finally admitted defeat in their attempts at making Reigns their poster boy, and it’s been a long time coming.
It’s unclear where Reigns goes from here. He’s nowhere near the title scene for the first time in years, and it’ll take significant rebuilding before he’s ever considered a genuine threat again. If WWE are going to pull the trigger on a heel turn, now would be the perfect time, but who knows what Creative have planned for him.
Perhaps he’ll be used to put over a younger wrestler like Sami Zayn, or maybe he’ll be back in the main event picture next week. We’ll find out soon enough.
And now, the winners...
