5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (June 23)
5. Sami Zayn's Mass Grave
This week, Triple H paid a surprise visit to Charlie Guenigault, the heroic off-duty London police officer wounded in the awful London Bridge terror attack. Irrespective of the fact that it was a PR exercise, it was nice to see. Just because something is born from cynicism, it doesn't mean the effects can't be heartfelt.
Triple H was on rare form during his visit to the UK in general, particularly during a BBC Radio 1 interview, in which he gently ribbed The Rock's finisher and retold the tale of WWF stars d*cking about on house shows purely to pop the Undertaker. In true Trips fashion, that goodwill soon turned sour.
Guenigault is a big WWE fan. His favourite wrestler is Sami Zayn - and so he was overjoyed when Trips whipped out his smartphone and played him a video message from the Underdog Buried Underground. Zayn was so touched that Guenigault wore his t-shirt on the night of the attack that he struggled to express his gratitude, going to great (literal) lengths to do so.
Now Guenigault, like all of us, probably prefers the version of Sami that isn't booked like a total geek - so Triple H, during his own PR stunt, of course buried one of his own performers in front of his biggest fan. "We had to cut it off. He goes on for another twenty-two minutes. In Sami Zayn fashion, he just kinda rambles. We faded it out just to save you the trouble."
What a hilariously inappropriate time to play "the Game". He just cannot help himself.
