5 Reasons The Sasha Vs Charlotte Title Changes Haven't Been A Bad Thing
5. It's The Opposite Formula Of NXT
Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair rose to prominence as two quarters of the Four Horsewomen. They elevated the NXT women’s division and, in turn, women’s wrestling in general. Both women, along with Bayley and Becky Lynch, are NXT darlings; nearly all of them had a run with the NXT Women’s Championship and the NXT Universe would surely welcome them back with open arms should they ever decide to drop by Full Sail University in the future.
What separates Sasha and Charlotte’s NXT and main roster feud is the predictable recipe for an NXT women’s title run: all champions get one lengthy run with the belt, developing feuds with storytelling and numerous matches, before finally dropping the belt upon their ascension to the main roster.
As credible as NXT, the golden child of WWE, has made this, it’s predictable. Paige, Charlotte, Sasha, and Bayley all had similar runs with the belt before dropping it to progress to the main roster. This pattern will no doubt continue with Asuka losing the title to Ember Moon.
Although it could be said that the game of hot potato with the Raw Women’s Championship has lowered its credibility (much like the feud between Paige and AJ Lee for the Divas Championship, although that belt already had very little credibility to begin withl) it’s at least changed the game from NXT.
