5 Supernatural Characters That Got Over In WWE (And 5 That SUCKED!)
4. Got Over: Kane
Kane had one of the best debuts that a wrestler has ever seen. He was built up expertly by Paul Bearer and 'Taker as they let audiences know about his pyromaniac past and got his name out there. When he finally appeared at Badd Blood 1997, tearing the Hell in a Cell door off its hinges and costing his brother the match, it's safe to say he was terrifying.
Part of what makes Kane such a great supernatural gimmick is the contrast between his powers and his physicality. While the ability to shoot fire every time you throw your hands down would undoubtedly help you out in a fight, his supernatural moments were often grounded in some sense of normality. He was strong and had a twisted past with his brother, but it was never a significant part of his in-ring work, just a hint of flavour to make him scarier.
Glen Jacobs might not have managed to surpass the legacy of his kayfabe brother, but he's one of the most enduring and respected wrestlers in the business. His induction to the Hall of Fame class of 2021 was well-deserved and evidence that he got this gimmick over.
