5 Things WWE Should NOT Do With New Universal Champion Braun Strowman (& 5 Things They Should)
WWE has made many mistakes with Braun Strowman in the past. Will 2020 be any different?
When the new decade began, no one would have imagined in their wildest dreams that Braun Strowman would win the Universal Championship with a victory over Goldberg at WrestleMania 36. The Fiend Bray Wyatt was the Universal Champion on 1st January 2020. He was having an entertaining feud with Daniel Bryan before Goldberg came back once again.
This time, WWE allowed him to pin the most protected Superstar on SmackDown and win the title in Saudi Arabia. Vince McMahon's main goal was to have a dream encounter between Roman Reigns and 'Da Man' at the 'Showcase of Immortals' - the writers had earlier planned a #1 contender's match for Elimination Chamber. Ultimately, they nixed that plot and handed the Big Dog an opportunity just by having him confront the new Champion.
The two Superstars did not get physical until WrestleMania as fans expected the 'Battle of Spears' to be a once in a lifetime affair. Unfortunately, Reigns pulled out of the match at the last moment, and the company had no other option but to insert Strowman into the match and gain the Blue brand's top position.
Now that the era of 'The Monster Among Men' has begun, here are the five things the Creative team should not do with the champ and five things that they should.
10. SHOULD - End Braun's Reign With A Successful Money In The Bank Cash-In
Over the last few years, WWE has messed up with the winners of the Money in the Bank contract, especially on the men's side. WWE handed the career-changing contract to Baron Corbin in 2017 and then made him lose the contract against Jinder Mahal in a match that did not even last a minute.
Next year, Braun Strowman won the contract, and 'The Monster Among Men' cashed in his contract against the then-Universal Champion, Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell 2018. Mick Foley was the special guest referee for that match. However, the Hell in a Cell match did not produce a clear winner as Strowman lost his right to challenge for the title.
In 2019, Brock Lesnar shocked the world by entering the Money in the Bank ladder match and winning the contract. He successfully cashed in his contract against Seth Rollins, only to lose the title to The Architect a few weeks later. The Creative team should give this year's contract to a Superstar who has been away from the main event scene for a while.
A successful cash-in would be the best way to end the current Universal Champion's reign because that would protect him in defeat. Also, the fans would not mind much if he does not regain the belt.
