5 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Rampage (Dec 3)

4. Sammy Guevara’s Jumpstart

AEW

The opener between Guevara and Tony Nese, pesky selling-related whines aside, was good stuff. A special mention must go to Sammy for jumping Nese at the start of the bout - that was a direct response to Tony forearming the chin off the TNT Champion during a backstage promo last week.

You've gotta love echoes like that.

Guevara forearmed Nese back, then started raining down punches before the newcomer turned the tables and took charge by attacking both Sammy's ribs and his leg. Too many "grudge matches" (or, at least, those with some spice) start with lockups or other simple wrestling transitions.

These lads weren't keen on doing that here, and rightly so. They had some bad blood going into the match because of Nese's prior attack, so it made sense that Guevara would want to put Tony in his place from the opening bell.
