5 Ups & 1 Down From This Week's NXT (March 21)
Ups...
5. Old Haunts
As WCW Saturday Night mainstays during their brief and lengthy respective stays in the organisation, NXT top brass Triple H and William Regal were presumably thrilled to return to the Center Stage recording facility.
Pioneered as a regular taping location for WCW's main broadcast in a pre-Nitro era, the venue is rich in wrestling history and was presumably the latest on 'The Game's tick-list after somehow getting WarGames over the line in November. It was again an outstanding call from the prodigal son-in-law.
The staging and presentation of the show looked absolutely stunning. The audience were lit magnificently, with a blend of light and shade reflecting the characters as they performed and the intimacy captured by the ring's close diagonal proximity to the ramp.
Full Sail University and WWE may have a mutually beneficial relationship, but a semi-regular return to the venue for taping cycles would be a welcome addition to the annual calendar.
