5 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (Jan 13 - Results & Review)
The Virtuosa impresses, Hook does Hook things, and a barnburner of a main event.
Another week, another AEW Collision in the books - this week emanating from Norfolk, Virginia's Chartway Arena.
While Battle of the Belts IX - which won't be covered here - took place immediately after Collision, that still didn't stop some gold being on the line on AEW's regular Saturday show. As such, Mogul Embassy defended the ROH Trios Titles against the Righteous and Lance Archer.
Opening things up this week, though, was Lee Moriarty accepting Adam Copeland's open challenge. A solid way to open any show, Moriarty vs. Copeland was followed by the Canadian letting Christian Cage know that he's not done with his former BFF.
Elsewhere, there were a few extremely predictable bouts designed solely to get wins on the board for certain talents, with Dustin Rhodes taking on Willie Mack, Adam Page battling JD Drake, and Hook facing Kevin Matthews. More notable than those contests, though, was Deonna Purrazzo's (second) AEW in-ring debut, with the Virtuosa out to impress against Red Velvet.
Taking up the main event slot, we had FTR teaming with Daniel Garcia to take on the House of Black's Malakai Black, Brody King, and Buddy Matthews. And yes, that show-closing match was as good as we all hoped it would be.
With all of that in mind, then, Saturday night's alright for fighting...
