5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (11 Sept - Results & Review)
1. We’re Going “Fight Forever” With This?!
Sunday Night's Main Event should've been an endpoint for this rivalry.
On SmackDown, Trick Williams came out for a promo about his United States Title win at SNME. There was no Lil Yachty, but he was dragged to ringside by Baron Corbin. Why? Well, apparently we must run with this rivalry forevermore. Honestly, Trick winning the belt again was the time to move on from Corbin, but here we are still doing it. No amount of Trick Willy magic on the mic can justify going with yet another match between these guys.
Baron got some good heat, being fair, but surely everyone is bored of this now. “We’re not done”, said Corbin after he'd blasted Williams with a kendo stick from behind on the stage. That’s what we’re all afraid of, sir. Listen, Baron put in some shift in Atlanta last weekend, and he carried Yachty to a passable 5-minute 'wrestler vs. manager' showdown, but there was no need to keep him in the title scene on this week's show. None at all.
If anything, people would've been hoping to see Trick move on to something else, but his looming inclusion in things at Money In The Bank means WWE booking remains frozen for now. Unless the latest Williams vs. Corbin bout is a qualifier for the ladder match, then forget it. Does anyone actually want to see them lock horns for that United States gold one more time?!
The sooner Yachty splits from Williams the better too. It's time folks. It's high time.
