5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (8 Mar - Review)
3. FTR Are All The Way Back
On a show perilously short of excitement and the type of drama needed to generate big noise, FTR’s return interview was much-needed boost to the broadcast.
This was neither cheat code nor fluke of course. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler earned all of the plaudits they’ve rightfully received for being THE team of 2022, but in speaking frankly about why the needed to recharge at the start of this year, a sense of excitement around 2023 grew.
The Gunns winning the AEW Tag Team Championships was an expect-the-unexpected gamble that already feels like it hasn’t paid off, but there was at long last a sense of satisfaction about the booking. Every living breathing human within earshot of this promo and Dax and Cash themselves knew one thing definitively after it concluded - those entitled nepo-baby paper champions are absolutely f*cked and there could be no two more fitting than the Top Guys to make right this very obvious wrong.
Maybe the ends will justify the means after all?
