The one negative in the main event unfortunately was a notable one.

Midway through their match, Mia Yim went to hit a knife-edge chop on Allysin Kay – and struck the post with her hand. OUCH. Kay immediately jumped on it and attacked the hand. Moments later, Kay was kicking Yim’s midsection and hitting a fallaway slam, ignoring the injury.

And then Yim ignored her own hand, which the announcers speculated might be broken or would make it difficult for her to hit certain moves. Mia punched and chopped with her injured hand and hit several moves that required her to use her hand at full strength.

It was a pretty big lapse between two professionals. If the injured hand wasn’t going to be a factor in restricting moves or be something Kay wasn’t going to target, then why bother doing the spot in the first place?
