5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 10)

2. Cena Wins (Over The Crowd)

When John Cena waltzed out at the start of Raw, it looked like another groan-inducing appearance from the 15-time champ. He was met with loud and lusty boos and fans singing €œJohn Cena sucks!€ to his entrance music. And how did he react? He smiled and bowed. It looked like we were in for the usual Cena promo where fans blast everything he says and he just kind of ignores them or pays them lip service. And while he did just that for a few minutes, Cena did something impressive €“ he won the Liverpool fans over to his side, if only for a few minutes. Having him partner with and talk up Dolph Ziggler helps, but calling the Authority €œwankers€ in England also gave him a boost. The big reaction came when Cena blasted the members of the Authority as sellouts, calling Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury €œstooges€ (a callback to the late 90s roles that Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco played) and calling Mark Henry €œSexual Chocolate.€Cena also is strong on the mic, so between the little efforts to score points and his good work selling the program, he got the fans on his side €“ albeit temporarily.
